Galaxies in a supercomputer

How numerical simulations help us understand the evolution of the Universe

  • Date: 09 November 2023 from 16:00 to 17:30

  • Event location: Aula della Specola, via Zamboni 33, Bologna

One of the main challenges of modern astrophysics is to understand how the hundreds of billions of galaxies that populate the Universe form and evolve during its 14 billion years of life. During the conference, we will discuss the extraordinary results obtained in this field (and those in store in the near future) by exploiting the computing power of modern supercomputers to create virtual universes that we can compare in detail with reality.
