The new eyes of astrophysics, or how to scan the sky in search of another Earth

The revolution introduced by Galileo in the understanding of the sky in recent decades, led to the discovery and observation of planets around other stars.

  • Event location: Aula della Specola, via Zamboni 33, Bologna

The revolution introduced by Galileo in the understanding of the sky was born from the use of his telescope and has, in recent decades, led to the discovery and observation of planets around other stars. In this conference we will talk about how these observations require telescopes and instruments that allow astronomers to "work around" the limitations imposed by physics, and reduce or eliminate the effects of the Earth's atmosphere in observing the Universe.
