SPACE WATCHES: Annoying asteroids and how to deal with them

From Monday 26 June to Friday 30 June 2023

An initiative of the INAF - Sorvegliati Spaziali on the occasion of Asteroid Day 2023, the International Day established by the United Nations in 2016 and set for 30 June, the date of the Tunguska event , to raise awareness of the public opinion on the risk of impact of asteroids and comets, and on the importance of scientific research on potentially dangerous celestial objects.

During the event various activities with and without reservation will be proposed as follows.

PLAN

• exhibition of meteorites and relics of the Tunguska and Chelyabinsk impact events: from 26 June 14:30 to 30 June 17:00
• experiences in augmented reality: 30 June from 11:00 to 17:00
• workshop for girls and boys (8+) on asteroid impacts: 30 June from 11:00 to 17:00
• round table with INAF researchers and screenings of some scenes from the film Don't Look up (2021): 30 June 18:00 - 20:00.
  Three lucky ones will be drawn from the audience at the round table and will receive a free meteorite.
