Safety Training

By law, all workers must receive safety training from their employer, and students are considered equivalent to workers when accessing laboratories. Therefore, safety training is also mandatory for students.

The Law

Training in health and safety in the workplace is mandatory under Article 37, paragraph 2 of the Consolidated Act on Safety (Legislative Decree 81/08). The law states that all workers must be trained on the risks they may encounter while performing their work activities. According to the law, students are also considered workers when they enter any type of laboratory.

Safety Training Course

The training program for the Department of Physics and Astronomy (DIFA) is established by the University’s Prevention and Protection Service and is structured into three modules, totaling 12 hours:

  • Module 1: General Training – Safety Law
  • Module 2: Specific Training – Low Risk
  • Module 3: Specific Training – Medium Risk

The modules are organized as follows:

Modules 2 and 3 require a refresher course of at least 5 hours after five years. These refresher modules have been available since the academic year 2017–2018.
