Access regulation to DIFA
Access to the Department, across all its locations, is governed by an access regulation designed to ensure service provision while safeguarding the safety of all users.
Access is permitted to all users during opening hours. Generally, access is not allowed during closing hours, on Saturdays, or on public holidays.
DIFA Users
DIFA users include all individuals who are authorized to enter the department, divided into the following categories:
- Permanent staff: professors, researchers, technical and administrative personnel, both permanent and temporary;
- Non-permanent internal staff: research fellows, PhD students, collaborators, and graduating students;
- Non-permanent external staff: visitors, retirees, researchers from other institutions, etc.;
- Students and interns.
Access is granted to all categories according to different rules based on role, time, and location. The full regulation is available to staff with institutional credentials (@unibo.it) in the restricted area of the department’s website.
Ordinary Rooms and Laboratories
Ordinary rooms include offices, classrooms, libraries, and common areas, while laboratories are rooms equipped with instruments used for research and/or teaching activities. Access to ordinary rooms is permitted during specific opening hours and according to management rules (e.g., libraries, classrooms). Access to laboratories is subject to specific management, safety, and supervision rules and is under the responsibility of the Laboratory Manager (RDRL).
Access Outside Opening Hours
When the department is closed, access may be exceptionally authorized if the activity being carried out cannot reasonably be completed or interrupted during regular hours. Such access is subject to additional safety regulations. Authorization requests can only be made by permanent staff, for themselves and their collaborators, via email and by following the instructions in the document “Request for Access Outside Opening Hours” available in the “Virtual Spaces > What to do for…” section.
Requests must be submitted with reasonable advance notice, and access is not permitted unless explicitly approved.
External non-permanent staff, students, and interns cannot be authorized under any circumstances.
General Safety Rules
In general, users who are not part of the permanent staff may access the department under the responsibility of their scientific supervisor (e.g., the professor in the classroom, the lab manager, etc.). In certain cases (e.g., access outside opening hours, access to laboratories), supervision must be direct.
When authorization for access outside opening hours is granted, the following safety rule must be strictly observed:
“It is mandatory to ensure that at least one other person is present on the same floor whenever the reception desk of the building is closed. This means the user subject to this safety rule must meet with the other person on their floor, agree to check in with each other at least once per hour, and coordinate their departure time, which must occur simultaneously.”
