Last Friday, Feb. 20th., the Department of Physics and Astronomy (DIFA) took part in a guided visit to the newly reopened Museo della Specola and Museo di Palazzo Poggi, at the heart of the University of Bologna’s renewed exhibition paths dedicated to the history and development of science.
The initiative, addressed to faculty, researchers and technical-administrative staff, offered an important opportunity for internal engagement and shared reflection, allowing participants to explore first-hand the scientific and cultural vision underpinning the redesign of the museum spaces.
The Department was accompanied by two exceptional guides, Marcella Brusa and Eugenio Bertozzi, DIFA professors, who presented the new exhibition layout and retraced its key milestones, methodological choices and the scientific reflections that shaped the project. The visit highlighted not only the historical value of the collections and instruments, but also the contemporary meaning of their renewed narrative — a dialogue between past and present, heritage and ongoing research.
The reopening of the Specola and the updated exhibition paths at Palazzo Poggi return an extraordinary scientific heritage to both the academic community and the wider public, framed within an interpretative approach capable of conveying the evolution of the scientific method, astronomical observation and the construction of knowledge.
The visit proved to be a valuable moment to strengthen the Department’s sense of community and to reconnect with a shared scientific legacy that continues to inspire and guide DIFA’s research and teaching activities.
An English-language guided visit will be available soon.
