UNIBO Fulbright Agreement

The University of Bologna has signed an agreement with the Fulbright Commission for the establishment of chairs called ‘Fulbright Lectureships’. The initiative, which is part of the Fulbright US Scholar Programme, is the main tool through which periods of research and teaching by US professors abroad are funded.

Within this programme, the University can host American scholars through the establishment of co-funded chairs.

Each year, UNIBO establishes the number of positions and the subject areas. The lectureships last for one semester with a minimum period of 3 months and are aimed at lecturers with a minimum of 7 years' post-doctoral experience, preferably Full Professors and Associate Professors. Teachers will receive a grant of €18,000 for a period of 6 months (or an amount proportional to the length of stay). The total cost of each chair is €19,800, half of which is paid by the International Relations Area and half by the department hosting the scholar.

Every year, around July, the University issues a call for applications, which interested departments can submit.
